Winter Carp Fishing Tips – and useful Bait and Big Fish Approach Tactics

Location Location Location!

First we find the fish but may be indicated by other anglers catching fish, or come from where you caught previously. Last year's records of hotspots and over – wintering areas can be very useful. However, these may vary according to season and prevailing wind directions temperatures.

Also fishing pressure, the availability food, changes in the lake bed caused by moving / feeding carp, other fish present, eg larger – wintering can modify the catfish "waiting areas! Disadvantages in the water like fallen trees, rocks etc, silt beds, gravel bars, old water lily beds, weed dying, the water inlets, dominating all trees and shrubs can fish hold and all deserve a chance.

Also investigate cut – away banks, lower margins, shallow margins in shade or sun where rolling / bubbling fish may be seen in winter at the end of a hot wind or back of a north wind.

Reed beds, underwater humps, troughs, 'food traps' on the rails of the prevailing winds, sauces, areas softer and may indicate a feeding area as silted older areas, with worm beds that produced fish previously hot times year.

Try places where there are sudden changes in depth, many foods attractive natural harbor. Especially gravel roads, dirt mounds and Borders around the islands, and on the edge of weed beds. Casting around to find underwater debris and old dying weed can help locate fish too as these port of natural foods areas.

Quiet study, or by over-fishing areas, areas of 'one-push "can be very revealing. A Often the biggest fish are often caught in areas where most bait goes into a lake. I know the big fish man Dave Lane would agree on this, in connection with his fifty United Kingdom!

Often in winter carp can be located in that 1, 2 or just 3 areas of a lake and shoal until well combined. Casting all around the lake with a small lead and braided line methodically until you feel "hits" as the winds (which are not issued next) could be fish!

Moving your hook baits every hour may be productive, since this approach can be found wandering the land with a fish or disturbs fresh activity / or "ear" bait land and investigate out of curiosity.

Some say use smaller baits on the hook in the winter, and I agree here. He has been more on these and use small baits in PVA bags or on stringers, especially using pastes and par – boiled baits mixed rapidly dissolving bait / fish meal pellets.

Bites in Winter can be very misleading in fact and in its indicators should be set to maximum vibration / sensitivity as often only one or two 'beeps' could be a hooked fish spinning or shaking his head trying to spit the hook while just 'sitting' in the water static without running.

"Rod called" really can produce the tent perhaps only lightly hooked; Quick Test 'twitch' of its platform with a quick tug on his line of hand to hook the fish!

I found that the old traditional ground bait composed of broken stale loaves with loads of extra highly attractive additives and extracts, such as alkaloids that contain substances used in your boilie base mixes work very well.

This form of ground bait is not used so often these days in the UK. Live food Added "like worms / Worms much needed activity to the mix, and often attract other species to feed first which stimulates the carp to follow, just in time to polish bait your hook!

On that note using a plastic cage 'feeder lead' wrapped in fast dissolving / hour over the ground bait as in the popular method is a great way to "Build – up" and feed your swim with fast acting attractors importantly, without feeding up fish!

This often can produce smaller fish too, for example, using 'artificial maggots or sweet corn "in the hook, but I was at "Rainbow lake" in France when Martin Locke (Leader of Solar deal "caught his first carp of 60 pounds on ' method.

Find your fish and give them some bait!

While the ideal fish to use quantities of fast dissolving baits that really can turn the fish into feeding without filling up or suppress your appetite! A period of pre – bait quantities either while fishing, or introducing bait in areas where hot winds in the unit or afternoon sun can heat up, not caught in time or for non-fishing.

Or any area that potentially might have or be a feeding area or a "safety zone" where fish may move to de – leach themselves or sunbathe on the water levels up as the sun hits the water, or at / near hooks, etc., I remember one winter finding fish literally "stacked" very close to a depression in a wide bed weed pond weed dead "Canada." in the reservoir Shotgate, Essex United Kingdom 1984.

These fish were very easy to catch by half – one hour period each day and this time was "like clockwork for a period of about 3 weeks of December. Each day, time Food changed for about 10 minutes so he could be marked out and 'kick-off' can be predicted extremely precisely. It was exceptionally fruitful and exciting fishing and I stayed with the action using lots of basic, simple small roughly chopped 'par-boiled' and rubber; yeast protein-based baits of milk with coffee powder and chocolate added. (For alkaloid attractive "extra" content – that are addictive!)

I think regular harassment is the most important long-term success consistent carp fishing especially in the winter!

Pulling methods to trigger fish feeding fish:

Try using dissolving baits, Poly Vinyl Alcohol (water soluble) stringers with baits or PVA bags. These are excellent for delivery of large quantities bait, maggots and even oil based liquid attractors into your swim, or even fine ground bait or pellets etc.

Add a little butyric acid to enhance their natural winter baits: For great added attraction, simply add finely grated parmesan or blue cheese. This is just the 'tip of the iceberg! "
