Where control cables for a 1997 work to 2002 Mercury 90 HP Mercury outboard 40 hp?
I just bought a pontoon boat with a 1997, 90HP, 2 stroke Mercury / Tracker outboard powerhead with a bad, probably only a part. I found an old fishing gear at a good price that is a stroke in 2002, 40HP, 2 Mercury / Tracker that I go overboard and buy everything for the engine. If the controls already at work pontoon boat with the smaller engine? or I'll have to change the checks out? I've only seen images of 40HP, and both have tilt / trim and controls seem like real … only the one in my Quicksilver pontoon has stamped on it and the other not (if that makes a difference).
Yes, electrical controls, throttle / shift direction and working very well. The mercury does not change the plug's electrical harness until 2006. The other option you have is to replace the head at 90, with a paddle Mercury. See what the cost difference would be. Do not forget, you have to REPROP 40 for the boat dock.
