Going fishing in July, Big Sky Montana, Snake River, Gallatin River?
I have a fly rod, but im bout to buy one. I prefer to use my tour deal I do not know if that would work. I dont really know what im doing there im CUS Maryland. Any tips on fishing and / or destintions trip would be appreciated.
I live outside of Helena Montana. You can fish on spinners and spoons in almost any body of water in the state. My favorites are Panther Martins, furys black and Thomas is a black cyclone spoon the fish seem to love. You want the one with the bronze again, not yellow. When I meet them I'll buy all that the store has. As for your options, the Gallatin is fine. The Ruby is good. The Beaverhead has some impressive brown trout. The Missouri between Holter Lake and Craig is amazing. If you enjoy hiking, the West Fork of the Blackfoot has some incredible murderers. If you are serious about fly fishing thing, you have to beat some of the small streams around the brook trout. It is a great way to get some practice with his team of flight. They are not very large (6-14), but are aggressive. It is as catch a piranha aquarium. I've met more than 60 catches in a couple of hours. Ask the local sports shop in what ever part of Montana is in may refer to a good place to catch brookie. This way, Deep Creek, Dry Creek, Battle Creek, Crow Creek, Swamp Creek, or any of 100 other people have brook trout, more than you can imagine.
