Provo vs Green River? What would you recommend for fly fishing lake.?
In September my father in law and are driving to Boise, Idaho, Indiana. Since we can never be again in the West want to do some fly fishing in any of the Provo and Green River in Utah. This is a shot once, so any information on the pros and cons of each river would be greatly appreciated. Also, never been fly fishing. So the second question is that we just pay by a guide or take some time to learn to fly fish before they leave and do not worry about a guide?
Nice name! Je je. First, I hope that once you get to Idaho and Utah, you find that you need to make the journey more than a one-shot time. Fishing is big here in the west, and fly fishing is addictive, no matter where you do it. Then you realize that these two rivers are like 6 hours from Boise, right? I'm not sure why you would like to go as away When there are many blue ribbon trout fisheries that are much closer. You have the Boise River and South Fork there, which has some tremendous, wild sections river for adoption, and to be visited during the most spectacular time of year. Even Yellowstone is probably closer to Boise to Provo. There are two major rivers in Cache Valley, Utah, just a couple of hours from Boise. If you have to choose one, and you never fly fished before, I recommend the Provo River. Fly Fishing Green River is big business and can not learn as much as you will on the Provo. I would also like to think of a ship that was almost certainly want a guide to the green, if first visit. The Provo has some pretty big water, but is also quite cozy, in parts, and in some areas is almost like fishing a small stream. I would definitely learn all you can about fly fishing before heading out. You will be completely lost if you have to solve everything at once you arrive. Not necessarily take a class, but maybe if you have a friend who can start, perhaps carried out somewhere to catch a few fish will not be disappointed. Fly fishing has a fairly steep learning curve – you do not want to deal with it while vacationing. As a guide, yes, I would think having a guide, even if you learn a little about fly fishing in advance. Without guidance, no matter where you go, you'll have a few days to find out where to go and how to fish. With guidance, you will be fishing and catching fish on the first day of travel. You can always get the guide for a day trip and then the fish on your own after that. Good luck and have fun. Come back with more questions.
