How resonators amplify instruments?
I am building a wooden guitar with strings of fishing line. I made a hole in the wood and I'm trying different resonators. I want to find out what kind of shape and depth of the resonator has to be for maximum sound ampilify. Every time I put a resonator (a metal box or a plastic container), the sound becomes quieter. I pasted in a plastic container, but remains quiet. What should I do?
It seems that what you put inside the guitar is acting as a buffer instead of a resonator. To resonate the vibrations of the strings, regardless of the objects you use must have the same natural frequencies as guitar strings.
