which is a better reel for dock / fishing pier or black gold Daiwa Spinning Reel Penn Sargus?
I live in South Texas north of Padre Island and plan for Pier fishing village and Bob packery channel and do some surf fishing. I will be targeting cats, red drum, dum black, Spanish and bass Mack Daiwa is $ 85, and Penn is $ 90 so the price is not a problem
The Sargus is a piece of sh * t. Do not buy it. It is wrong, and although it promotes the "water salt "friendly face, it is not. The gears are susceptible to oxidation and corrosion, having decided not to use the more expensive metal or alloy from there. I one of those services, and was horrified by the construction. Ridiculous. For $ 50 it would be a good reel – but at $ 90 – Heck no. The Daiwa is much better. It is generally a MUCH stronger reel. And if you're alone on a dock / pier, you will not need the added distance to another spool would bring you. Go to the Daiwa and not look back. He serve you well. BG60 is great, unless you really need the extra line cap. Then get the BG90.
