winter fly fishing for rainbow trout?
I go fly fishing in the winter steelhead, and I'm fairly new to fly fishing, so what are good tips for steelhead? I am going to a creek in Erie, probably in January or February, so any help is good. Thank you!
The water is extremely cold, and my experience has been to go small. Nymphs and Hare's Ear, Prince, Black Stones, Pheasant Tails in sizes 12's until 18's. Be sure to take a set of "Ice Creepers", and for ice fishing on the leash in your wader boots, the coastline of the tributaries Erie can be treacherous. You must check out and www.fisherie.com Steelhead101. There are maps, fishing reports, etc. as bait shops also a lot of great information, conditions flow, etc.
