Beautiful and historic Hastings

Hastings is a picturesque city and local government district in southeastern England in the county of East Sussex. It is better known for his connection with the Battle of Hastings 1066, which actually occurred north of the city at Senlac Hill, the battle is commemorated today in the town of Battle.

Hastings is one of the Five Ports, but its importance as a port declined after the 19th century and became the main fishing industry. You still have the beach large fishing fleet based in England. From the fishing port turned into a spa and, finally, a resort in Victorian times.

Hastings is in the beds of sandstone, in the heart of the Weald, known geologically as the Hastings Sands, meet the English Channel, forming tall cliffs to the east of the city.

Hastings Old Town is in a valley between the hills of east and west hill on which stand the remains of the castle. In the Victorian era and later the city has spread westward and northward, and is now an urban center with more suburban area of St Leonards on Sea in the west.

Roads carry the valley Old Town to the Victoria area of Clive Vale and the ancient town of Mineral, of which the Ridge, which marks the effective limit of Hastings lying north west into battle.

Beyond St Leonards, the western end of Hastings is characterized by low land known as Glyne Gap, which separates it from Bexhill on Sea The sandstone cliffs have been subject to considerable erosion in recent times, much of the castle was lost at sea before the present sea defenses and promenade were built, and a greater number of cliff houses are in danger of disappearing around the nearby village of Fairlight.

The beach is mainly shingle, although large areas of sand are uncovered during low tide. The town is generally built on a series of low hills rising to 500 meters above sea level on the rim before falling in the river valley to the north.

There is a miniature railway, fairground attractions and entertainment catering galleries tourists, near the fish market. The fish market network includes amazing shops, the fishing museum and Hastings Sea Life Center.

Fishing boats is likely to be drawn up on the beach and there is a lifeboat station. Nearby is Hastings Old Town with a number of buildings dating from the early days of the city.

There are two funicular railways, known locally as the western and eastern hill Lifts Hill, respectively. A little further is the small Stables Theater, showing the production, mainly local and acts as a cultural center exhibitions.

To the east of the city is the Hastings Country Park. This is an area of 2.67 km of forest land and open lightly stretching from Hastings about 3 miles or 5 miles along the cliffs of Fairlight.

Another family pool with wave machine and water slides are in Glyne Gap, on the coast halfway between Bexhill and Hastings. Glyne Gap also sports a bowling alley and shopping mall.

There is a small Odeon cinema in Hastings, however there are plans to renovate an area known as the Priory Quarter in the city center, plans include spaces offices, units of retail and a great new cinemas.
