What is the best striper fishing under the Sacramento Delta?
make a trip to Delta later this month. not sure how to configure, what to take as far as draws go, and what methods to use. any information would help. thanks.
You can troll with plugs, cast / Recover the sockets, or use bait. Trolling – red head / body yozuri wht's, Rápalas in rainbow trout and shad patterns, just about any articulated / unarticulated (4-7) diving minnow lure. Casting – lures on it, but adds in rat traps L ', Topwater plugs ( "poppers" pencil / Chubs / ghosts super). Any type of bait under-will be good, but I would go one or two sizes larger than typical low draws. (Rapala XR12/14 in size, pumps for 5 3 / 4 to 7 "size, yozuri in it) If u have a thick rod and some heavier online, you may even consider swimbaits (FishTraps worked well in recent years – white) Bait – Mobile Team Lead (main line, slide a slider on the line main, tie on a swivel, then leader of about 22-38inches, then connect between 2 / 0 and 6 / 0 size. Snap a drag on the slide. The amount weight that should vary considerably depending on where you are in the delta and also how much of the fishing trip it is.) Nape / grass shrimp / Pile worms / sardines / anchovies all work as striper bait. Live Bait – If you can find some bluegiles or shad and catch, I want to connect one through nose with a 5/0-8/0 hook and throw it back. That is by far the most productive for the search and capture of large stripers. In general, the top of the incoming home / Outgoing was productive. Moreover, the beginning of the input / output so as well.
