That is the dolphin fish, mahi mahi, not dolphin, "Flipper" porpoise. Our dolphin fish are an exciting game of offshore fish ranging in size from 6 to 60 pounds.

The best time for Dolphin fishing is usually in April, May and June. Also is common for some exceptional catches of dolphins from early October until mid-December.

If you're learning to catch fish on their own, here are some tips to get started. Dolphin fish are truly perfect game. Are prolific breeders, rapid growing and short-lived which make them an excellent option as a game fish. Recreational catches that can support without becoming over-fishing.

1. Leave early – these fish are always hungry in the morning. Most dolphins are captured before noon for this reason.

2. Bait – Sometimes, we can cast and cut bait, when schools of dolphins are attracted by boat. Often, when we drag to the Dolphin you can see the fish charge and strike the bait. Use Live Ballyhoo whenever possible.

Chum not last long in a fast current plan accordingly. I was almost 2 mph from the current to the east. Living and strips of Bonito Pinfish disrupting best, along with strips Ballyhoo Blue Runner and caps.

3. Fishing Tackle – One end of the cable will have a touch haywire to attach to the fishing line through the swivel Completion and the other end will have 7 / 0 or 8 / 0 hook is connected by a crazy twist and pin gear.

Adequate to cope with the capture of dolphins depends on the size of the fish we might suppose. Dolphin can be as small as two pounds and as large as eighty pounds, so bring a variety of sizes to meet the fish you want to catch.

4. – Find the dolphins – Head to deep water in search of these fish. Regarding the location, the most common reason that can not be the capture of dolphins is not going far enough offshore. We recommend at least 3 miles.

Keep a look out for seabirds like the frigate, man-0-War, etc. The birds often follow the larger fish that can be detected from the air. You'll find most of the dolphins in birds and, Of course, for debris.

Once a dolphin and brought schoolie is connected to the boat, leave it in the water. A dolphin can reach a weight of about 80 pounds, but only live about five years.

Working weed lines for fish, particularly dolphins. In any region, the "stain hot hot will probably be a mass of blue water of debris and drift from the Sargasso weed, guaranteed to attract roaming dolphins. These objects floating in the open sea bait to attract small shelters, and that in turn attract the dolphins.

Add the water to fish next Once the head out, be aware of what is happening in the water. Baitfish attract predatory fish, and no reason for not fishing the area around a school of bait big.

The dolphins do not move far from their food source to keep an eye out for floating weeds, other floating objects, start temperature, subsoil and structures that can attract and provide shelter to flying fish and other food sources.

5. Trolling

Dolphin as to pursue their food. So trolling their dinner behind the boat will be our way of grabbing and hooking these fish. If the fish do not strike your bait while you're trolling fast, slower, and let the bait sink a little.

Launch a naked ballyhoo on a working group on small stain birds, and may connect with the fish lifetime!

When you find a fish, release the line, count to five, the complement of the bail closed and begin to boot.

When you have hooked a fish, work on it so it gets tired. You do not want to get to 40 pounds of fish to the boat again until he relaxed a little.

Dolphin grow incredibly fast, so 5 pounds let go in June could be up to 30 pounds fishing is in September. Catch & Release means only to maintain some of these small dolphins (called "schoolies") and return the rest to the sea.
